School Staff Wellbeing
A Research Paper By Alison Mitchell
Leadership Coach, NETHERLANDS
In this paper on school staff wellbeing, I’ll discuss some of the problems that schools currently face around the world, such as issues with staff retention and recruitment as well as low engagement in various educational systems. I’ll introduce the idea of having a distinct framework for well-being in schools, in this case, the PROSPER model, after briefly defining positive psychology and well-being. I will then go on to show ways in which coaching in schools could help develop and sustain this framework to embed a positive culture, focused on the well-being of the school staff. This essay’s main concern is adults who work in educational settings. The framework can also be used to emphasize the welfare of the students.
Drifting vs. Driving
A Coaching Power Tool By Heather Prentice Schmidt
Empowerment Coach, CANADA
Driving is the opposite of drifting, and drifting is the non-choice choice, according to the Drifting vs. Driving power tool for defining the two terms. A coach is a crucial ally in the transition from driving to drifting. The coaching environment can help a client in a number of ways, such as by assisting them in re-connecting with themselves and accessing the resources and dreams they have deep inside, recognizing the obstacles and limitations standing in their way, reflecting their beliefs to help them gain new perspectives and access to new opportunities, by identifying the supports, structures, and systems that will help them change, and by providing a process for commitment and accountability when they need to.
