Numerous elements, such as attitudes and beliefs, social norms, and clients’ perceptions of the resources at their disposal and the obstacles they must overcome, have an impact on behavior change. In order for interventions to be most effective, they must be tailored to specific clients and their contexts, since different clients may be affected by these factors in very different ways. Understanding theories and models of change can be a helpful step for coaches to take in order to determine the stage at which their clients are in terms of the desired change and to tailor interventions and emphasize relevant core competencies in accordance.
