Interview with Connie Whitesell
So what is blended coaching? Here are a few definitions:
Blending coaching blends a coaches professional expertise with coaching concepts to transition their clients through change, provide effective training and create unique products and income streams. It uses the coaching process in a directive or consultative way to maximize value an deliver real results for their clients.
It’s a blended solution with part coaching and part consulting based on your competencies, experience and education. The combination of coaching and consulting creates more value and accelerates change for our clients.
Cheryl C. Belles described in her article “Blending Consulting and Coaching for Real Value”
Consider this a bell curve. At one end of the curve is pure consulting, at the other end is pure coaching. In the middle, for each consultation (or meeting with a client), there exists an optimum blend of coaching and consulting behaviors.”
Or to put it another way what you’ve done tells people what you’ll do. This is true in life and in business. When we engage a professional, we want to know how they came by their expertise. What have they done? With who and for how long?
This may sound a bit scary to new coaches but think of it this way – you’re not a brand new coach. Starting over. With the pay cut to match.
Think instead. You are an expert. A teacher, trainer, manager, business owner, advisor parent, life style enthusiast or mentor. Now add ‘coaching’ to the mix and you have a beautiful blend of services that can build and sustain a prosperous practice.
