“Self-criticism vs. Self-compassion” is a power tool that helps clients overcome obstacles by treating themselves with respect and care rather than negative self-talk and mistrust. Self-criticism makes us feel bad about ourselves and makes us doubt our skills, while self-compassion makes us feel good about ourselves and empowers us to change. Every one of us has an inner critic, which is louder for some than for others. It seems uninvited and sometimes unexpected, and we are rarely happy to hear it.
