Corporate reasoning is not known for fostering employees’ individuality. Instead, particularly in previous decades, their culture was seen as successful if it was able to attract “pleaser” workers who would obediently follow the management’s directives, which were aimed at the company’s greatest profits. The fairly recent financial scandals made everyone aware of the unethical behavior that results from this environment and attitude, and both the media and regulators began to place a strong emphasis on ideas that previously did not exist, like Ethics and more frequently Values, that regulators around the world now require every company to demonstrate.
