I’ll talk about the effectiveness of Acceptance vs. Denial in this power tool. I’ll start by defining acceptance as a mindset free of judgment before moving on to the advantages of practicing acceptance. I’ll then look at the defense strategy known as denial. Denial is, at its core, a position of ignoring or rejecting a fact that runs counter to beliefs and may cause emotional distress or pain. I will also go over the immediate and long-term effects of denial in life. I will emphasize the value of practicing acceptance in the section titled “the impact of shifting from denial to acceptance,” using science-based research to examine the beneficial effects of acceptance on people’s well-being by facing uncomfortable emotions or feelings.
