A coach’s ability to appropriately perceive behavior can be improved by developing cultural EQ. It is crucial for us as coaches to comprehend our clients’ underlying beliefs and expectations when working with them. To be able to identify, understand and discuss these candidly in coaching sessions, coaches working across cultures need cultural intelligence and emotional intelligence (CQ and EQ). So, the question is: How can we grow as coaches and improve our CQ and EQ? Since I think it is crucial for leadership coaches working with international teams to integrate their CQ & EQ development, I’ve developed the coaching model described below: A Cultural EQ for Global Communication.
