A Coaching Model By Vernée Smith
Life Coach, UNITED STATES
My “OZ” Coaching Method was influenced by L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz book and movie. Harry Baum’s The tale of Dorothy is well-known; it is one of development, acceptance, and change. For many of us, Dorothy’s journey through Oz is extremely relatable. Dorothy had to learn to use her head, heart, and courage to find her way home, as personified by the Scarecrow, Tinman, and Cowardly Lion. The “OZ” Coaching Model operates in a similar manner. With clients, coaches will examine the Brain—their ideas and convictions—the Heart—their principles—and the Courage—their courageous actions. When coaching, it is simple to become preoccupied with one’s thoughts or sidetracked by the client’s story.
