A.L.T.E.R in the dictionary means to make changes that are usually small but significant! The journey of coaching is about making big changes through actions and reaching goals. Successful coaching is when clients come to a new awareness or at least expand their present awareness to reach their goals through actions and bring the change that brought them into the coaching journey in the first place.

The literature supports that empathy is closely related to leadership success (Cooper & Sawaf, 1997), and is also related to positive impressions of leaders (Kellett et al., 2002). Although there is evidence to support the importance of empathy in leadership, there is a risk of losing or weakening executive leadership skills (such as planning, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making) in an empathetic manner. This article will try to discuss how coaching and mindfulness can be helpful when leaders pick up empathetic opportunities and respond.

Having reasons for not achieving our goals is not all bad. It is merely a matter of perception. The opposite of having all the reasons as to why the client has not achieved their goal can also be very encouraging and beneficial. Once we understand what the reasons are, we can change our focus and create a proper action plan to achieve the results we desire. The article Reasons vs. Results by Wayne Farrell from the U.K. shows how this can be achieved by coaching and helping the client to overcome or navigate the stumbling blocks on the path to success.

We find managers (people) who are unable to let go on a daily basis. They feel compelled to be in charge of everything. They must spend a lot of time exercising this control. As a result, they have less time for creative endeavors. They are frequently in a panicked (stressed) condition because they worry that someone won’t do well and that they won’t be able to delegate since no one will accomplish the task as well as they do. They generally become extremely busy people as a result of this. The Control vs. Delegate power tool aids in coaching the client to be aware of such clients and prepare for working with them rather than being caught up in the problems.
