A Coaching Model By Alison Mitchell
Leadership Coach, NETHERLANDS
I frequently have conversations about the ideal time for a coaching session as a part of my professional work to support school leaders in creating and establishing a strength-based coaching culture in their schools. While collaborating with one of these schools, this model was created. I collaborated with the school to create time-effective strategies for maximizing coaching relationships. The school wanted to provide outside coaching as a resource for staff professional development. Staff would be provided with 30-minute sessions due to scheduling and financial constraints at the school. Even though I use the GROW model when working with school staff, I was looking for a way to increase the amount of time I had with the teachers and myself as a coach. My approach (or model) is known as “The gift of TIME.”
