We find managers (people) who are unable to let go on a daily basis. They feel compelled to be in charge of everything. They must spend a lot of time exercising this control. As a result, they have less time for creative endeavors. They are frequently in a panicked (stressed) condition because they worry that someone won’t do well and that they won’t be able to delegate since no one will accomplish the task as well as they do. They generally become extremely busy people as a result of this. The Control vs. Delegate power tool aids in coaching the client to be aware of such clients and prepare for working with them rather than being caught up in the problems.

People often grow steadily throughout their lifetimes. However, there may be times when the client believes there is no prospect for improvement. I compare the coaching process to the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. It pupates, then transforms, and finally emerges as a beautiful butterfly that can FLY. From up there, it suddenly has a completely different perspective on the same environment. As a competent coach (accredited according to ICF criteria), I provide the client with an ongoing partnership. I provide him/her with the time and space needed for that transition. In our fast-paced environment, it is critical to have the opportunity to sit back and reflect on our own lives and the qualities we possess.

In coaching, the practice of “Active Listening” is crucial. The coach pays attention to more than simply what the client says. The coach pays close attention to their entire body. The coach pays close attention to the client’s words and the manner in which they are expressed. He or she also concentrates on the client’s voice intensity and the coachee’s body language. When the coach is actively listening, he or she lets the client speak for the majority of the time, dancing in the present with the client, and the appropriate, strong questions will naturally be raised. Consequently, the client will perceive the coach as offering a private area and as being interested in the client. Empathy between the parties is practically “in the air.”
