How to Forgive through Coaching?
Every one of us has someone needs to forgive and the inability to forgive prevent people from moving forward in life. This paper attempts to help clients to reach forgiveness through coaching. By definition, forgiveness is to stop feeling angry with somebody who has done something to harm, annoy or upset you, to stop feeling angry with yourself. However, revenge is to inflict punishment in return for injury or insult, is a kind of wild justice. However, forgiveness is difficult to understand. This is because; it is mysterious, challenging and relative. Brakenhim (1993) notes that part of the difficulty in defining forgiveness is because it is ambiguous; there is no one single concept of forgiveness but many.
The explanation and practice of forgiveness differs from one person to another, which results various, unmeasured and unexpected responses. Nevertheless, the idea of forgiveness can be closely understood from both the theological and the Psyological perspectives. Both advocate that practicing forgiveness help people reduce anger and bitterness as well as healing human relations. Whereas religions describe forgiveness as essential for our spirituality and relationships, Psychological studies have proved its importance for the physical and mental health.
