My coach leads leads me through a relaxation exercise, getting me to sit comfortably in my chair, close my eyes, and become conscious of the present moment, by relaxing my body, hearing the sounds that are occurring around me, letting go of the stress and preoccupations of the day, breathing it all out. Reminding me to feel the love that is there, and let go of all the negative feelings. Then she lets me sit for a moment and when i am feeling comfortable and present to let her know.

First few times we went thru breathing exercises which I was already familiar with. Another time she went thru a guided meditation including a lot of references to God.

Progressive relaxation of each body part. THe whole thing lasted for about 10 min
3/10/2012 7:22 AM View Responses
It was a guided breathing exercise with the focus on the breath and body. It was also a visualization around different topics.

Stay away from other distractions like TV, computer, take a deep breath and think of the session only. Free my mind of other issues.

It makes me remember about being present, it relaxes and slows my mind down, makes me feel settled and in the moment. It makes me feel cared for, and caring toward myself

The first time was helpful because meditating with another helps me focus more. The second time the exercise was aggravating because I have practiced meditation for years and it seemed too biased and basic. I do believe in God but didn’t want that to be pushed on me as I felt it was.

Not very helpful. I thought this time could be better used for coaching

I was able to look at my challenges, problems in a different way and felt that they didn’t mean the end of the world to me.
3/18/2012 1:41 AM View Responses
Depends. Sometimes its not applicable as I am already in a good state to be coached, so just go through the motions. Other times it puts me in a good state.

I understand what is being discussed better, I am less stressed, and i am present. I listen better, and I am open to new ideas. I gain so much from such a short time, so much more than if I did not do this exercise. I know from experience that otherwise i would describe interactions that have occurred and not be present as i tell them, therefore actually taking a very long way around to get to a positive result. I think it speeds up the process.

When she led the breathing exercises it helped slow me down and less in panic mode over the real life circumstances that had affected me during the week. Thinking was more clear!

It gives the sessions a starting point and focus.

I think the reason I didn’t fill it out is that I didn’t want to feel restricted during a session, and wanted to allow for something last minute to come up on which I may wish to be coached.
