Beliefs
There has been much written about beliefs. Certainly coaching and beliefs go hand in hand. A book to consider reading is Daniel Rechnitzer book “The All Knowing”. He writes about beliefs and how they are not the real us. He states that that the body obeys the mind; therefore, the body tends to manifest what the mind believes. He also reminds us that beliefs may be held consciously or unconsciously and that we are only subject to what we hold in mind and the only power that anything has over us is the power of belief that we give it.
Beliefs are the thoughts and views we have about our life. We start gathering these beliefs at a very young age and they dictate our experiences. The beliefs we hold consciously are the ones we know about and they drive our conscious decisions for the most part. But we hold many more beliefs subconsciously and it is those beliefs that play a larger role in how we experience our reality. Our subconscious beliefs come to us from our teachers, parents, religions, and the media. 3
The more we read about beliefs in into books such as the “The All Knowing” or any of the other material that is out there on this subject, the better we understand how beliefs work. That understanding will help us grow as a person and as a coach.
