Reading adds positive ideas to our subconscious, sometimes replacing negative memories that were put there by circumstances that we were not even aware off. Some of the literature pieces mentioned were pure inspiration to me and they helped me believe that I contained magic within. As coaches we can be the one person in our client’s life who can help them acknowledge the greatness that they contain within.
When we are reading, we are free to think whatever we want without any fear of judgement. And sometimes we get to take away the most amazing ideas and inspirations that can help us become a person who is encouraged to go out into the world and be all that we can be.
Coaches like the author, allows the client to take from the coaching experience whatever ideas that will move them forward. Like the author, a coach is never judging, they are just holding the space for the client to share their thoughts. The coach is always holding a space for the client to explore and to challenge them to go deeper. However, what the client takes from the experience is the client’s responsibility not the coaches.
An author similar to a coach can inspire us to take a leap of faith towards the unknown and as a result, come out stronger on the other end. An author like a coach can encourage us to ask ourselves the tough questions that lead us to explore the unknown, think outside the box and then create inspired action. Reading can help us as coaches to develop the skills needed to encourage and acknowledge our clients for the power-full human beings they are.
The silent impartial non-judgmental way that these messages are delivered by these authors can help us as coaches to shift perceptions and beliefs more effortlessly and can help drive us to take action.
Below I review a few key authors who were very instrumental in helping me create a positive perspective on life and I will endeavor to show how their message can create a positive impact on coaching.
How an Author’s Message Relates To Coaching
One of the very first books that I ever read was the book “Illusions” written by Richard Bach. This book had a profound impact on my thinking. His message was that the mind can create unlimited possibilities if you could set aside your disbelief’s. I finished that book with such a strong knowing that if you truly believe, then anything was possible!
The message contained in that book helps me to always remember that believing in my client is critical to the coaching process.
