We will never be able to have everyone’s acceptance and actually we shouldn’t. The same goes for others, we shouldn’t expect anyone to act or live their life journey just to feel accepted from others. Everyone is different, people’s unique and different values and beliefs, their self awareness and their past and present decisions is what makes them what they are now. However by accepting others the way they are I don’t mean that we should be ok or fine with any negative acts.
Reject what you wish, and live your life the way you wish but don’t deprive others from doing the same. What may seem right to you may seem wrong to others as well.
Self Application
Acceptance puts you in a state of inner peace. You will be more productive and more satisfied with your life with who you are and what you represent in the world. It will allow appreciating yourself and appreciating others just the way they are.
Judgment releases negative energy, which will only leave you in state of constant fear. Fear that others will not accept you or that you are not good enough. As mentioned earlier, the act of judgment only defines the person judging not the one being judged. When you find yourself in a state of judgment, always remind yourself that god has created us different for a reason.
So that each one of us will have his own unique input to the world. If we were all the same in everything, how can we learn more? How can we appreciate what we have that others don’t? How can different cultures learn from one another? Accept yourself and accept others, no one has and is still walking your journey. Life’s struggles and benefits for you are not the same for the ones around you.
Coaching Application
Coaching is the act of releasing judgment and accepting others the way they are. To call a coaching session successful, the coach need to put his personal views aside. The main goal and the main focus should be the client alone. The coach need to release judgment completely and to accept the client’s own personal values and beliefs just the way they are even if he didn’t agree with them.
The client needs to feel that he/ she is in a safe space, where he/she can open up and share what they want without being judged. That is the main role of the coach in the coaching session. Coaches are there to listen, to build a good strong healthy relationship with their client. To help their client bring out what’s the best in them, what moves them forward and build on it and what is the perspective holding them back that may need some shifting.
All the above can never be attained if the client felt for a second that he/she is being judged for they are or that they believe in.
Reflections
- How can you know that you are in state of judgment?
- How can you help yourself release the judgment act?
- What can you do to increase your levels of self-acceptance?
- Write down what you appreciate most within yourself
- Write down how you feel when you catch yourself judging others.
