Your Mindset Dictates Your Thoughts, Actions, Behaviors, Emotions, Feelings, and Choices. What Mindset Will You Choose Today?
Our mind plays an influential role in what we believe and how we think. What we think about ourselves and our abilities decides how we act and lead our life. Your mindset is the framework within which your mind thinks, associates, perceives, interprets, and reacts to situations. Your mind is the place where everything begins: where thoughts are founded, and subsequent emotions emerge.
Fixed Mindset
It’s common for people with a fixed mindset to believe that their general qualities are fixed traits that can’t be changed. Their beliefs and thoughts restrict a person with a fixed mindset. They think people are born with unique talents, and every person has different abilities and intelligence that cannot get better with time, persistence, and effort. People with a fixed mindset are discouraged by setbacks because a setback dents their belief in their ability. They tend to become uninterested and give up. Fixed mindset people tend to worry more about how they are perceived than people with growth mindsets. A fixed mindset will keep you from accepting criticism. Failure will never be something to be learned from. Having a fixed mindset will keep you trapped in a cycle of no change. You will stay in your comfort zone with this mindset. Those with a fixed mindset will find they won’t reach all the success they’re capable of. They won’t stretch themselves outside their comfort zone.
Growth Mindset
People with a growth mindset believe that there are numerous stepping stones toward development and improvement. A person with a growth mindset finds freedom in their thoughts and beliefs. They understand that certain people have unique talents and that intelligence varies from person to person. Still, it’s also something that can be developed and increased with effort and hard work. The brain is most active when they are being told what they could do to improve. People with a growth mindset view a setback as an opportunity to learn. They tend to try harder to overcome the problem. Having a growth mindset can help you manifest your dreams because you’ll believe that you’re able to learn and improve in any way necessary.
It is so important to be able to learn and grow as things come your way in life. Without a growth mindset, you will have trouble manifesting your dreams because you need to change many things within yourself to make your dream life a reality.
We are the only ones that limit how things are big or small. It’s all in the subconscious mind.
A growth mindset is when you believe there’s always more to learn. A fixed mindset most likely keeps you stuck in your current patterns.
A growth mindset is a key that unlocks so much success. A fixed mindset most likely keeps you stuck in your current patterns. They’re always up for new challenges.
When we have a growth mindset, we tell ourselves,
- “Even when things get hard, I won’t give up!”
- “I can do anything I set my mind to!”
- “I can’t do it yet, but I will soon!”
- “When I believe in myself, I feel confident, brave, and strong!”
- “I understand that achieving my goals takes time and effort.”
- “I can face my fears and be courageous!”
- “I learn by making mistakes and taking risks.”
- “I just can’t do it…yet!”
- “I’m not good at this…yet!”
- “I don’t understand this…yet!”
- “This doesn’t work…yet!”
If people have a “fixed” mindset, they believe that their qualities and traits are “fixed.” This means that they cannot change. In other words, they were born with specific talents and gifts and a certain level of intelligence, and they cannot grow, improve, learn, or change with time or practice. Those with a fixed mindset often make excuses for their behavior or performance. They may give up easily and lack confidence in themselves and their abilities. Besides, those with a fixed mindset may compare
themselves to others and see themselves as second best or not as good. They may feel less prepared or confident to try new things, take risks, face challenges, or solve problems as they think they just can’t do it, so why try? They may also feel devastated when they make a mistake or fail and lose their desire to try.
Ihave clients who believe their necessary abilities, their intelligence, their talents are fixed traits. They do not want to try to bring change for their benefit, growth, and health. The clients who have a growth mindset understand that even though something may be complicated, they can help them and are willing to try. They know their abilities can be developed through effort, learning, and persistence.
If you learn how to master your mindset, your whole world will change. I had to work on my perspective, and after I did – everything changed.
Changing the way you think can be the key to getting the results you want in your life.
- Your Thoughts Shape Your Life
- You Can’t Change The Past.
- Worry Is A Waste Of Time.
- Embrace What You Can Control.
How to Use Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset in Coaching
In coaching, it is essential to help clients reframe their perspectives. It all starts when the coach helps the client discover more than one way of looking at a particular situation or event. When you sense a client is viewing things through a narrow perspective, reframing perspectives can shift by asking some of the following powerful questions: help them see things from a broader perspective. This allows the client to become aware of views that are fixed.
You may not have control over all of your circumstances. But you can decide what you believe about your events. Become aware of what you’re thinking. If your thoughts aren’t benefiting your future, change them. After you change your thoughts, go all-in with believing that they’re correct. When you do this, you’re creating the results. You’re already becoming who you want to be. Be intentional with your thoughts and choices. Choose to have beliefs that help you grow and become the best you.
