By striving to being the driver in your journey – whether it is your work journey – your life journey – your social journey – your relationships or simply your alone time you will be making the choices to do or be or to not do or not be versus simply being a passenger.
At times it may feel comforting to simply sit back – relax and watch the scenery go by as you tag-along on someone else’s journey. Until the scenery that is passing you by is not what you want to see but simply someone else’s journey.
When you remove yourself from your own driver’s seat you are choosing to go be taken on someone else’s ride and not get to where you are wanting to go.
By owning your journey, you will have your choice to make. Everything a person does or does not do is a choice. It is empowering to make those choices yourself then you can own the outcomes.
As the driver in your journey of work – life – relationships you may choose to at time slow-down and drive along someone to share in their journey – however you have made that choice versus abdicating your responsibilities.
By noticing times when a client (or ourselves) has slipped into passenger mode we can ask the questions to support them to step back into the driver’s seat.
We can encourage self-awareness of actively making choices that allow a person to get back into leading their own journey.
This keeps one moving forward – does not matter how fast but moving forward versus sinking into inaction and getting stuck.
This allow one to not become a Tag-along Too-loo. Always keep seeking to become the best version of one’s self in all the facets of life. Then you own it!
