Through all of this, the coach is there to motivate the client and provide encouragement to help the client move on. This stage is very critical and hard on the client as it requires a lot of soul searching and might include changing the ways the client thinks and looks at things. Therefore, the coach will play a supportive role and will hold the client’s hand during a rough patch, or give the client a proverbial pat on the back on a job well done. The coach will also provide acknowledgements to the client that will help to keep the client’s morale up, and increase the client’s confidence in his/her abilities.
Step Four
This is the final step in the model, where the client has reached the goals previously outlined. This step is ideally where both client and coach would see themselves after working together, be it a number of sessions or (miraculously maybe) in a single session. This depends on the nature of the goal or issue that’s being discussed and the client is trying to resolve. When the client has reached his/her objective, the client is met with the coach’s acknowledgement for a job well done. The coach acknowledges the hard work, may be even the blood, sweat and tears that have gone into shifting the client’s perspective and the client’s accomplishment.
Conclusion
The Milestones Coaching Model looks at the coach/coachee relationship and examines how the coach can best help the coachee. The client is looked at as an equal to the coach but has partnered with the coach to reach greater heights in life, work or an environment the client would like to move forward in and enhance.
