A Coaching Model Created by Yun Ju Ruby
(Life Coach, TAIWAN)
A model designed to empower clients into fulfilment and meaning
Very often people want to achieve different things in this world due to what they are told. Either they are told what to/not to do, or they are told what they should/should not do. One such pattern is established, one would only pause upon great challenges, asking again the “ why” a.k.a. the motives behind. There is indeed more than one way to do anything and everything, and coming back to the three fundamental Ws is an effective approach. Underwent such a process myself, I now resonate personally with this approach and decided to turn this process into my coaching model.
The three fundamental elements/pillars and ways to apply them:
THE who — Your Identity
THE why — Your Purpose
The what — Your Mission
I see the perks of exploring first the identity, then purpose followed by the mission at the end; of course, everyone is different so some flexibility can be included for better results. What is certain is that by exploring within ourselves and obtaining all three, anyone can truly get to fulfilment, according to their terms.
We all carry a purpose in life, and when we step into it, we can then lead a fulfilled, empowered life with bliss. I feel that this is the given right to all humans, and yet it is our responsibility to dig within and find out the unique answers for ourselves.
I like the metaphor of a tree; the deeper the roots (3Ws) go, the higher/stronger it can grow above the ground and be fruitful in all areas.
Be Yourself ; Everyone Else Is Already Taken — Oscar Wilde
I think of my coaching model as a life coach, with a niche of Life Purpose, as a journey plan for my clients. They come to point when they decide it is time to explore Paris ( Fulfillment/Meaning ), and I am offering them a structure for the journey. Once the logistics are settled ( when to leave, how long is the total journey, budget etc ), the journey begins.
Coaching process explained in the concept of travelling:
The journey consists of visiting three main districts that are the most significant to my clients, WHO/WHY/WHAT, and our end goal is to gain clarity and proper knowledge on the three and go home fulfilled.
We shall spend a first equal amount of time in each district, exploring their identity, purpose, and mission in a deeper level. Then decide on which one to further explore for better understanding and best takeaways before flying home. ( just like sometimes you would like to pay that museum, shop, restaurant again for different reasons and needs. )
I believe anyone can travel on their own, but the privilege of traveling with a coach who is here for you and who respects your needs and process, is so great that the clients can not only gain better insights along the way and walk away from the journey with personal take-aways that they can cherish deeply and apply further.
This model is designed to support anyone to live a Purpose-Driven lifestyle, feeling empowered. Empowerment in life allows us to carry higher strength, resilience, and even setting better boundaries.
Through the journey, recognizing Limiting Beliefs and turning Fixed Mindset to Growth Mindset would be blended in too according to the needs of the clients when necessary.
Steps through the coaching process:
- Check-in where the clients are ( using a designed survey for identity/purpose/mission. Draft listed below. )
- Support the client to figure out where they want to go with the coaching process ( ex. Start with clarifying the identity -> purpose -> mission etc)
- Set a time frame/pace/frequency
- Start the process
- End with reflecting on the take-aways for the clients
Questions for evaluation in Step 1:

I wish to know more about my identity in life and live in alignment with it.
B) Concerning Purpose
I do a lot of things without knowing the reasons behind.
I am aware of the reasons behind my decisions in daily life.
I think the reasons for my daily decisions are highly important.
I do not normally care about why I am here, doing things I do.
I do things because I have to.
I wish to know more about my purpose in life and live in alignment with it.
C) Concerning Mission
I know what my vision is for life.
I know the steps to take in front of me.
