A Coaching Model Created by Virginie Scheers
(Executive Coach, BELGIUM)
We may have a life without “Big” issues… but time to time or even regularly we can feel not so well.
We may feel overwhelmed, stressed, stuck, anxious, …
We may have the feeling to live a life with no harmony and no serenity…
We may feel resigned about our life and think we cannot do anything about it.
We may not feel responsible of our life.
STOP struggling, START living…The path that I propose trough the STOP coaching model is to help the people to stop the journey of their busy life.
I propose to take the time to be more aware, more conscious of the life they are living.
We must take the time to STOP. This will help us to restart on a more conscious path.
Let’s take the time to explore ourselves and to bring us to a better SELF- AWARENESS…
This will help us to live the life that really matches with who we are, to live a life in harmony and serenity.
I will be the PARTNER of my client during all the coaching processI’M THERE TO- Ask QUESTIONS and help my client to question himself
– Help him to EXPLORE who he really is, what he really wants – REFRAME what he says and so help him to see the situation with a new perspective – SUPPORT him during all the way to the realization of what he wants – ACKNOWLEDGE my client of his strengths and the progress he is doing à It will take my client on a safe and trusted path who leads to a life of HARMONY and SERENITY. |
During all the process my client will learn to know him better, to take the time to listen to himself. It will help him to understand his emotions and lead him to a better SELF AWARENESS. | It’s important to clarify today’s situation.- What is today ‘s situation ?- What is his reality ?
– What is the picture of the present moment? |
The approach is based on the “Wheel of Life”… The difference lies in the fact that the client decides the different parts of his life.Often we see our self as a single ME… « I am. ».. But in reality we have to juggle with many different ME’s representing every facet of who we are… We are the sum of all our ME’s. Most of the time we are not aware of it.The ME’s will be different from one person to another as we all are unique human beings.
Here are some examples of the ME’s : « ME as Spouse », « ME as Parent », « ME as Professional », « ME as Child », « ME as Friend », «ME & Money» « ME & Wellness », « ME & Spirituality » …and so on. One ME can often be forgotten… It’s the “ME & ME-time”… It is interesting to question my clients about it. My client lists the different ME’s who are part of his live. It brings him to a 1st self-reflexion about who he is. Once we have the listed ME’s, my client has to score each of them. The score will depend of how he feels concerning the different ME’s… |
– Does my client feel harmony in his life?- Is there harmony in the different ME’s ?- Does the ME’s interact in harmony ?
– Has the client ever thought about his values ? – Are the values is own or are they conducted by the others ; like the parents, the friends, the company he works for, the culture of his country ? – Is there a match between the life my client is living and his true values ? – Does he put the right energy and time in the right ME’s to respect his true values ? |
At this stage, my client knows his reality, his ME’s, his true values…Now it’s time to explore the choices he has to live his life…What are the choices he has? What are the different options? | What is the choice he has made? What Outcome does he want of the coaching process? | The outcome the client wants can be at first view a big challenge for him…So it’s important to show that it is possible to slice it in smaller piecesAn outcome is composed of several goals/purposes
An important work that the client has to accomplish with my help is to break down this outcome in several objectives |
Each of the purposes /objectives that we are going to establish have to beSMART
Specific : it must be distinctive, unique ; Measurable : how does my client know he has achieved his purpose ; Accountable : my client has to be responsible of the realization and success ; Realistic : it must be achievable ; Timely : it’s important to establish deadlines to bring my client into action ; |
Having goals is a big step, but it’s not enough. If the client wants that the outcome he has chosen become his new reality he has to go into action. My client, with my help, is going to establish an action plan.
As his coach, I’m there to help my client to realize, to be aware of all the great potential he has and all the strengths and skills he has to achieve it. |
« Situation today »…
The situation today is not the same anymore than it was at the beginning of the coaching process.
It’s the new reality of my client. A new reality where Self Awareness is present and where the outcome he wanted is realized.
