REAL Coaching
What is REAL coaching you may ask? While I do consider myself a realist, typically grounded in reality, with a daily attempt at “keeping it real” ~ in this case it’s a little different.
REAL coaching is comprised of four key elements that I feel are critical in supporting clients in reaching their goals.
R = Relationship
Building a strong coaching relationship between coach and client is imperative for success. During this stage of the process is where the foundation is set, guidelines and roles are agreed upon, and most importantly where trust is established. An authentic, trusting relationship is nurtured throughout the entire process.
E = Explore
Exploring is most creative part of the process. Once goals and dreams are articulated, exploration is the space where increased self-awareness, transformation, and exponential growth can occur. By using a multitude of tools and coaching skills the coach partners with the client on a significant journey of exploration and awareness.
A = Action
Action is where the exploration stage meets results. Actions are brainstormed and defined. Goals that were established in the beginning are revisited. Progress is managed and accountability reinforced to support the client in staying on track. By challenging client’s assumptions and perspectives, new ideas are provoked resulting in new possibilities for action. Successes are celebrated!
L = Learn
The learning component is a critical element that flows throughout all of the former stages. Without learning, future growth may stagnate. The element of learning is incorporated into each and every stage of the coaching process.
