Feeling, a matter of the heart
The messenger for change often starts in the heart, perhaps as a longing for a life of joy and greater meaning; perhaps as a feeling of emptiness, the sense that something is missing.
A.
Assessing: Where heart and mind meet
We hear our heart and contemplate a change of course. We filter the possibilities with Who, What, When, Where, and Why, seeking clarity. Dragons and protectors – where might they show up? What strategies will we use?
C.
Committing
Feeling and inquiry go nowhere without commitment, and that’s okay. However, if the vision is compelling enough and we deem the journey worth it, then we will commit.
E.
Executing
Heart (feeling) + mind (assessing) + commitment = action and execution.

Tailoring
Remaining in touch with what care about and keeping ourselves aligned requires adjustments over time. We tailor our life to keep the alignment we choose.
Engagement between coach and client can begin at any point of the diamond. Understanding where the client is in the FACET model can offer insights to the coach in how to support the client. Committing is at the top of the diamond – it can be an important decision-point for continuing or discontinuing the coach-client engagement.
The model can serve as a process model and as a diagnostic model for determining where a client is in the change process.
