Kaleidoscope Coaching Model
Perceptions, Perspectives and Patterns of Possibilities
Perception refers to the way we think about or interpret someone or something, such as ourselves, obstacles or opportunities. In essence, your mental impression.
Perspective is our point of view – basically the lens through which we regard and perceive. In essence, your attitude.
The model places the client and his/her perceptions in the centre. As your coach, I will help you identify your key perceptions on yourself and on the obstacles on your path to your goals. I will gently challenge you in your perceptions by breaking them down in smaller components to be looked at from different perspectives or scenarios, transforming perceived obstacles into opportunities. I will support you in holding up the mirror for you and enable you to discover new possibilities, that will present as your awareness and confidence increase.
Kaleidoscope Coaching Model – background and beliefs
The driving thought behind the Kaleidoscope model is that changing your perspective can change your key perceptions. And even a small change in perception can have a positive impact in the bigger picture for you; discovering new possibilities and regarding obstacles differently, through awareness of where the issue really lies and increased confidence in that you have the skills to overcome them.
My coaching takes offset in the belief that professional adults already possess the main skills they will need for future success – whether in an existing career or when preparing for change. The art lies in identifying the genuine ones by looking at them from different angles in different contexts; which of your strengths shine through in which contexts? Which of your perceived weaknesses could be a strength in another? How do your perceived strengths, weaknesses and obstacles look like in the bigger picture, from a different angle? Are your perceptions serving you and your goals? When changing your perspective and altering your perceptions, what possibilities present?
I have chosen the Kaleidoscope to symbolize this process; a Kaleidoscope operates according to the principle of multiple reflections of existing elements. It will reveal new, beautiful patterns once shaken – but only if we lift it towards the light and look properly.
Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.– Marcus Aurelius
