If you are walking down the right path and you are willing to keep walking, eventually you will make progress. Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. Coaching to me is to a large extent is about influencing others without authority, expertise or being overbearing. I’ve always experienced positive energy, learning urge, growth orientation, fulfillment, passion and emotional [intangible] rewards, whenever I surrendered myself to authenticity, candidness, curiosity, willingness to support others. This has come from the premise to simply
Trust the Client and trust the process.
Every single step in this direction has been deeply humbling. I have done my very best to imbibe and carry more of these elements, as I roll out this model, to my contemporaries in this wonderful planet earth.
My larger and super‐ordinate goals are to generate positive differences in others’ lives, make indelible and sustainable impact on them and leave a legacy for them. I in turn influence their dear ones, colleagues and the society at large. Yes, I’m certain that this path will recreate a world that would be certainly a better place, to live and let live!
In summation, Coaching is a journey about me ardently pursuing my call in life and while doing so enabling others to pursue their calls of life, in the corporate world and in other domains! Hence feel proud and delighted to release my Coaching model to the Universe! CORE MIND Coaching model is resting on the maxim that the process, means, design and values, are equally important in conjunction with Coach competencies and desired outcomes, for Clients and the Sponsors who are the stakeholders of the Organizations, whom I partner.
This model enshrines basic ethics as outlined by ICF and also permits freedom and flexibility, to me as a Coach, to stay on course the essential ingredients of the process and yet support the client to delve into themselves with ease comfort, alongside exploring and overcoming challenges and ultimately help them seek their options and solutions, which reside deep within themselves, which they discover, realize and eventually own, for accountability and actions.
CORE MIND follows the path of Coaching excellence. The portrayal is by no means exhaustive, but at best I’ve attempted to make it as illustrative as possible. Let me share the flow and meaning of each of the 8 phrases.
CORE MIND model’s Coaching application:
Contracting – By far the first significant step, for any Coaching relationship to begin and succeed. Essentially this is a process of establishing the basic launch platform and foundation, for the co-creation to take off. This includes sharing and understanding of all ethical guidelines, clarifications as to what Coaching can and what coaching cannot accomplish, establishing Coaching agreement, initial rapport and trust building which includes the chemistry sessions and more importantly choosing to offer and receive Coaching, from Coaches and Clients respective perspectives.
Objectives – having established basics outlined in the previous step, the natural corollary is to set up objectives for the Client. This includes identifying learning agenda, understanding immediate and long term outcomes while in Coaching sessions and beyond, dialoguing about specific, norms, values, working practices, structure and process parameters, initial ground work in ascertaining and unleashing deeper concerns or high dreams, as the case may be.
Rapport – building deeper and meaning connects with the Client begins in this phase. The Coach needs to demonstrate attitudes, skills, and values for relationship orientation. Keenness to listen to the stories of the Client without judgment, removing any biases and prejudices from the past experiences of dealing with others, willingness to develop pride in the relationship, commence here.

Empathy and Engage – the invitation herein is for the Coach to deep dive and relate in entirety to the Client’s narration, stories both the stated and unstated versions. This implies, as a Coach I’d travel with intensity along with my Client, in all their confusion, ambiguity, sadness, traumas, excitement, joy, accomplishment, celebration et al. In short, this is a challenging phase, where in the Coach forgets his or her world and becomes one with that of the Client.
This is also a phase when the Client experiences total Empathy from Coach and delves even further to share fears, inadequacies, inner realities, sense of accomplishments not acknowledged, perceptions about self and others of them. The client expects just listening, apart from being acknowledged and valued by the Coach. This is also a phase, in which the Coach ought to obviate any judgment, prescriptions and solutions, which are easy traps, best avoided. In effect, it’s about being authentic of accepting and acknowledging the feelings of client, unconditionally.
Apart from Empathy it’s also important for the Coach to completely Engage at an emotional level with the Client, which in turn would generate positive impact of being supported, cared and understood. Emotional engagement with the Client is also about taking the level of empathic listening to higher notches that would provide a conducive setting for the Client to reflect than ever before and discover seemingly irrelevant patterns to be connected, develop more incisive understanding about self.
In essence, the combination of Empathy and Engagement are powerful both for the Coach and the Client, to travel further into the terrain of unexplored paths and possibilities, which sets up deeper relationships and facilitates more discoveries and solutions, for the Client, by the Client.
