A Coaching Model Created by Trish Brooks
(Executive Coach, CANADA)
Coaching starts with the need expressed by the client, and the coach and learner come to an understanding of the coaching agreement.
As the relationship and trust and understanding increase, and resistance decreases, there is an expansion phase where awareness and possibilities are explored.
During the contraction phase the actions are defined, commitment is elicited, and the client moves forward to reach their goals.
This is a simplified model. In practice, there may be many loops back and forward as the problem, beliefs, possibilities and potential actions are discovered together.
