A Coaching Model Created by Sarah Batiste
(Health and Wellness Coach, USA)
BOOYA – an exclamation. A cycle through the process will produce an exclamation from empowerment, clarity, awareness, or some other success the client may have.
Bring it
This is the first step in the model. You will come with a vision or goal. We will talk about what you want, what your focus is, what is ideal, what are your goals, what do you want to become, and what does all this look like for you? What does it feel like? It can be an introduction to our coaching relationship or just the beginning of a session. What is your intention? BRING IT to the conversation.
Obstacle
In this step we talk about what is standing in the way. It’s powerful question time. What might be holding you back? Might this be self-imposed or is there an external influence? Is there a way around this? Is there a way through this? What does that look like? What do you need to make it happen? Does that answer feel right to you? What other possibilities are there? What strengths do you have that will help make this happen? As you step forward, what is the worst thing that can happen?
Own it
We can have discussions, we can create ideas, but at the end of the day, it won’t mean anything to us unless we own the statement. Internalize the power and believe you can make that change. You will repeat back to me what your discovery is. Really own the statement and make it yours.
Yes I’ll do it
This is the time where you decide on a way to make it happen. What are the steps for the week? Based on new awareness or clarity, how can you implement the new learning and put it into practice? What are your motivators? What does your support look like? What are your expectations for success? What might prevent this from happening? What will you do if that situation arises? This is how we bite the bullet before it bites you. You will commit to stepping forward in whichever way seems best to you.
Acknowledge
As we close our session, we will reflect on the progress we have made. I will point out key things I saw from you as well as give you the opportunity to share what you are taking away. I will offer my support and acknowledge you for things that stood out to me.
Bring it Again
This is an overlap of the first step. At the beginning of our session, there will be an opportunity to revisit our goals from the previous session. Bringing it back to the table. We will talk about what went well, what took place for it go to well, and how we can implement that into what didn’t go as well. It will be a time to refocus. It may be as simple as stating our wins and successes if it isn’t a topic you want to spend as much time on. The agenda is set by you.
