(Executive Coach, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES)
Coaching is about initiating and sustaining positive change to achieve a magnificent life.
The CHANGE model will support clients in achieving their goals and visions and enable them to develop their full potential. It will be the start of an inspiring and challenging journey.
Create Vision And Goals
Holistic Self-Assessment And Awareness
Action Planing
Nourish Motivation And Implement Actions
Growth And Personal Development
Evaluate And Celebrate
The CHANGE Model consists of six phases which together represents the process of the entire coaching relationship. The model can also be applied to fewer coaching sessions by focusing on one or two phases. The bigger circle represents the cycle of growth where the client is in the centre. Each phase leads to another, indicating a dynamic and evolving process. During the process the client will increase their self-awareness, confidence, motivation and wellbeing which will support her/him in achieving challenging goals and grow as a person. The inner circle represents the desired outcome, which is a successful transformation of the clients life.
Create Vision And Goals
Your thoughts and actions are the architects of your destiny. David O. McKay
Clients come to a coach with a desire for changes in different parts of their life and to reach their full potential. Every one of us strives to life a magnificent life and coaching can help clients to succeed in reaching their dreams and visions in life.
The CHANGE model works equally well for private and executive clients – where there could be an end client, like a manager or HR director. The coaching programme starts with an introduction session with the purpose to find out if there is a good “connection” between the client and myself. Before the session I will send out a Discovery Form to find out the clients expectations, goals and current life situation. If this is an executive client where the end customer is HR I will explore their goals and expectations as well together with an agreement regarding confidentiality and reporting that both the client and the end customer agrees upon.
In the introductory session we will explore the clients Discovery Form and I will explain the coaching process, the CHANGE model, my coaching style and values together with ICF ethics for a coach. We will also discuss roles and responsibilities of the coach and the client as well as the client’s expectations and goals. I will explain the Log book, which is a great tool for both the client and the coach to track the client’s progress during the entire programme. If the introduction session goes well and there is a good connection we will agree structure and establish a contract for the coaching programme.
The programme will be structured and action oriented to create the desired results and for each session we will agree objectives and actions that the client commit to. Before each session the client will send me an updated personal log book, which captures what has been accomplished since last session, any obstacles, feedback on the coach and what to work on and achieve for next session. This should ideally also be aligned with the overall expectations and goals of the programme, however I will be open for changes to this as the client owns their programme and the session. They are ultimately responsible for the progress and for achieving objectives. I will do my best to always support them and to be percipient for their needs and emotions.
At the beginning of each session I will follow up and discuss the clients commitments from the previous session. We will celebrate achievements and discuss difficulties with a non-judgmental perspective. For each session I will also advise the client on interesting and inspiring reading in the field of what they are currently focusing on.
The first sessions will be assigned for the client to create and define a clear and inspiring longterm vision, which could be seen as the journey destination. I will encourage the client to dream and think big when it comes to creating their vision and I will use different visualisation tools and exercises to help the client to create their vision. I will encourage the client to think of their passions, happiness, inspiration and “being” in life – not only achieving results – when creating the vision in order to enable a successful transformation. I will support the client to reach success as well as feeling positive, energetic, balanced and satisfied with their entire life.
When a clear vision is established it enables the client to set different goals that will lead them towards the vision and to start planning the journey ahead. The goals should be SMART – specific, measurable, actionable, realistic and timely, as this will best support the client’s personal development and the desire to get from A to B.
