What is J U M P…
Jump is a goal-oriented motivational model which helps clients explore and resolve ambivalence, challenges and strengths while providing them with a step-by-step strategic path to success.
JUMP stands for…
Jackpot
Upticks
Methods
Pace
Prior to implementing the JUMP model, it is imperative that rapport and a sense of trust are established as the primary foundation between the coaching/client relationship.
Jackpot
The jackpot is defined as the client’s goal; their primary objective; the idyllic place they envision themselves in or the mark they are looking to achieve with their coaching efforts. This end goal will be identified during the initial phases of coaching through interviewing, formally documented and continually revisited throughout the coaching process to hone and tweak as needed so that we may ensure the client can identify with it to the fullest extent.
The goal must be identified and constructed initially before proceeding with any other steps in the coaching model process.
During this initial phase, we will also work to assess client strengths and identify personal challenges. This will be done in the form of an interview and documented for analysis.
General self-efficacy (GSE)will also be initially measured as a baseline based on the Schwarzer and Jerusalem (1995) model. This measurement will periodically be re-assessed throughout various stages of the coaching process for analysis.
Upticks
Upticks are defined as small increases or milestones that are to be established with the client. Establishing periodic milestones is scientifically proven to help boost self-efficacy and improve motivation and performance. These milestones will be formally documented and strategically crafted based on clients wishes on custom periodic intervals which are most convenient given the client’s lifestyle and the timeline for goal completion.
Methods
Methods are defined as strategic tactics which are created in order to help the client efficiently achieve their most desired outcome. These tactics will be formally documented and established in the form of a step-by-step approach and used to ensure the client takes the most effective approach to goal attainment.
Pace
The pace is defined as the rate at which the client is looking to achieve their selected end goal (i.e. six months, one year). Pace will also be documented for various milestones (upticks) that are created in order to ensure the client remains on track and effective in their efforts.
