Learning Phase
At this point the client is employing the structures they have agreed to and are making their way towards a healthier lifestyle. Some of the structures may work better than others, depending on their individual circumstances. Some of these may need to be tweaked from time to time, and it is important to find out from the client how they are feeling about these changes and what they are learning about themselves and their new behaviors. Both positive and negative emotions may come up for them during this learning phase, and these emotions will need to be acknowledged and perhaps dealt with. At this point, helping the client to reframe some of their negative thoughts and beliefs into positive ones can be very helpful. It is important that the client see this process as an evolution and not as absolute. Acknowledgment and support are key here, for it is during this learning phase that the client is most fragile and needs as much reassurance as possible.
Tangible Results
At this point it is important to help the client assess their results, and find out how they are feeling both physically and emotionally? They may need support in determining where they would like to go from here. Perhaps they would like to set some new goals for themselves. If they have reached their initial health and wellness goals, and are satisfied, then they may need support in maintaining them. If they are not yet where they would like to be, then they may need continued support in getting there. The key is for them to stay focused on the positive and to continue moving in that positive direction.
Harmony
How are you feeling with your outcome? Are you contented? What are your takeaways? What else would you like to work on if anything? How has achieving your health and wellness goals affected your life in general? How happy are you with the coaching you have received? How else can I support you?
This is where you gauge how the client is feeling about their outcome and how happy they are in general with their results. It is also a good time to see if they would like to continue working on what they have been or perhaps on another related or unrelated health concern. If they are in harmony and do not have any more concerns at this time, then the coaching mission has been accomplished. This is a good time to ascertain how the coaching process has been beneficial to them and to check in with them on their thoughts and feelings around the entire process. Their feedback will be a barometer on how the coaching processed has worked in general and how their healthier lifestyle is supporting them in being more fulfilled and self-expressed.
