The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak. ~ Hans Hofmann
This model is designed for the driven and motivated individual who has the vision but lacks the organized and effective structures to help align their thoughts into an executable action plan. It is created with the life-coach in mind, but can be used across all coaching niches; the focus on getting things done simply and efficiently.
The ‘One-Page’ model directs you through a practical, 7-step process – using simple symbols as reminders – capturing all necessary information onto one-page so it can be easily visualized, evaluated and transformed into an action plan.
The uniqueness of this model is its simplicity and practicality. The intention is to organize the myriad of cluttered ‘what if?’ and ‘but!’ thoughts into clear and ‘can-do!’ actions by focusing our attention to the key things that really matter.
Condensing content encourages focused, critical thinking and intuitive, intentional decision-making. Often the challenges in goal-setting are due to over-worrying and over-thinking; allowing excessive unimportant thoughts to enter the mind, causing anxiety & the feeling of being too overwhelmed to take action.
The ‘One-Page’ model is a natural progression of the GROW model and designed with the KISS motto (‘Keep It Simple, Stupid’) in mind. Once the coaching application is learnt, the model can be printed in bulk and stacked like a notepad for easy usage & storage. A great way to use this is to store all finished goals in a folder, a great way to look back and celebrate how many goals one has achieved in a month or a year!
Coaching Application
Besides the noble art of getting things done, there is the noble art of leaving things undone. The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of non-essentials. ~ Lin Yutang
Here are some suggested coaching questions that can be used to assist the coach in client sessions, to help with defining clear objectives and statements for each section. Remember, the goal is to ‘Keep It Simple’ and to eliminate long, rambling thoughts and ideas into direct, one-liner statements and actions.
