……A Desire fulfilled is a tree of life Proverbs 13:12
My coaching model is inspired by a proverb from the Bible:
A desire fulfilled is a tree of life Proverbs 13:12.
This proverb illustrated the importance of pursuing goals and desires and that the fulfillment of those desires produces life- characterized by the tree of life. I have used the analogy of a tree growing from it’s inception through to the fruit stage as my model.
The stages and processes of my coaching model called the “Tree of Life” consist of the following:
Germination
Providing the best possible environment for change is one of the functions and responsibilities of the coach. Very few people have the opportunity to rest in a place of complete safety and acceptance. A place where they can talk freely about hopes, fears, dreams and desires without judgement. This time together in the early sessions is one where the coach would be acknowledging the client for the amazing person they are at every opportunity. This environment is a place of great possibilities, in fact this might be described as fertile ground for a person to begin to “germinate” the life they hope to have as they realize, with the help of the coach that life is filled with possibilities. Out of this time and place sprout great things, the beginnings of the wonderful life the client desires. We work to build up the client so that they are in great appreciation of who they are currently, laying the ground work for who they hope to become.
The coach would be using the following techniques in the “sprout” stage time:
The Root
This stage of the client/coach relationship is one where the roots of possibility are further explored. We hope to lay down the ground work for the tree by providing a solid foundation for the roots of vision. We want to be sure to plant the tree in the best possible environment for the tree to prosper. This is done in part by using tools to discover the clients values. This is important because if the tree is not grown on foundational roots (values) the root structure will be unhealthy and not produce the fruit that is hoped for.
