A Coaching Model Created by Marouschka Buyten
(Organisational Development Coach, RWANDA)
Do you know that childhood game where you had to connect dots until a, sometimes evident, sometimes surprising, picture emerged? That’s what coaching is all about, what I can help you to do.
But unlikely that picture from your childhood, there’s no pre-determined sequence in which to connect the dots, not even pre-determined which dots to connect. It’s entirely up to you which part of the picture you want to uncover and how to do that. Will you ever discover the whole picture? Probably not, as you keep evolving, new possibilities become available, new dots that can be connected to what is already there.
You know everything, but you don’t see it yet. You know what you can be, where you want to go, but you only see glimpses, the dots. Coaching will uncover the connections between those dots, so in the end a complete picture emerges. That doesn’t happen all at once, it takes time and effort. But the more you work on it, the more you can see the full picture.
Coaching uses the knowledge and wisdom already present in clients. They just don’t know it. They only have glimpses that are not connected. When these dots become connected, a new picture of who they are, where they want to go, emerges.
Individuals in teams of organisations in networks can be seen as dots that need to be connected to add value. Only when they’re all connected in the right way, the best picture emerges.
Quite often, we only see some glimpses of the possibilities
Serendipity: some possibilities materialize, others don’t.
Change of perspective means other possibilities arise. Making the connections between what/who is there opens up new possibilities, new perspectives.
