The three main tenets of The Courageous Mindset are clarity, mindset and courage. Below is an explanation of each tenet, how each one affects the quality of our lives and how the coach-client discussion space creates an environment that encourages clients to find within themselves the kinds of clarity, mindsets and courage that support them in setting and accomplishing life goals.
Clarity
Clarity is power. The more clear you are about what you want the more likely you are to achieve it.- Bill Cox
What is Clarity?
When we think of clarity, we think of being able to see further and more distinctly. Clarity helps us understand who we are in the landscape, where we’ve been, and where we want to go. With clarity, we can see the hills and valleys, the distant peaks, even the clouds that might be blocking the sun, and we can channel our energy accordingly. In this way, clarity matters a great deal in setting and working towards goals, but like with any distant view, we have to do a little climbing to achieve it.
How does clarity affect the quality of your life?
Lack of clarity causes us to spin our wheels, be stagnant, scatter our energy, move in a direction but not move toward our goal. Sometimes it means putting all our efforts into someone else’s goals but not our own.
Having clarity means we know ourselves so we can act in line with who we are, our roles and values – not someone else’s. With clarity, our energy is focused on the things that give us the most meaning, fulfillment and happiness. As a result, we can give more of our best selves to personal and work life, our important relationships, our passions, our endeavors and the world. This is what it means to live authentically.
Clarity also makes it possible for us to know others so that we can understand their motivations and intentions in order to engage with them in a productive way. It requires reflecting on interpersonal experiences, investigating assumptions, and being open to the kinds of information that they may be providing, intentionally or not.
Clarity is power because it occurs at moments when experience and knowledge come together to reveal new truths, and these truths can give focus and energy to the journey through life transitions.
