A Coaching Model Created by Lacie Bohanon

Everyone has had tough times in life and some get the stuck feeling that they are the victim in life. It is possible to move one’s self out of the victim seat into the victor seat and claim VICTORY of one’s life. We use the VICTORY model to assist clients towards becoming a victor and living their best life.

V-Visualize
The client begins by visualizing what they believe is their ideal life. This provides them with a sense of where they want to go in life and can help them start the beginning stages of developing a plan to get there. If they can see it then they can begin to believe that is attainable. The coach’s job is to ask questions to help the client along the way of the visualization and offer support on the journey. Examples of questions to guide a client through the visualization process are:
I-Invest
The client must be willing to put in the time, energy, and effort to move towards claiming victory over their own life. This is not something that is done overnight and the client must be willing to put in the work to accomplish their goals. The best investment they can make is in themselves.
C-Continue to explore
The coach will continue to ask powerful questions that will help the client to continue to explore where they want to go and where they are now. These questions should help to broaden the client’s sense of who they are, what they want out of life, what they need to do to get there, and what they need to remove from their life to be able to obtain it.
T-Tough questions
The client has to ask the tough questions to assist the client in moving themselves out of the victim role and into the victor role thus claiming victory in their own life. Examples of these questions are:
These questions are key to assisting the client in moving forward in their thought process and challenging their perception of the world around them.
O-Own your decisions
The client must own their decisions and the coach’s role is to help them build accountability for their thoughts, actions, and their goals. In the end, the client is in complete control of the outcome of their own life.
R-Remove obstacles
Once the client has visualized where they want to go, has owned their decisions, and begins to move towards victory it is then time to examine and remove obstacles. This is the time to explore what could get in the way of the client being successful and develop an action plan that the client feels they can be successful with. This is a crucial part where the client must be truthful with themselves as to what stands in their way. The coach is there to ask questions and provide support as the client works through what is standing in their way of victory.
Y-You can
You can! The client has put in great work to this point and now they need to believe “You can” do it! You can accomplish anything with the plan, support, and accountability you have put in place. “You can” be successful.
