A Coaching Model Created by Kristyn M. Lang
(Career and Life Coach, UNITED STATES)
The word FREE invokes the images and feelings of what I would like my clients to experience when working with me. Coaching is a trusting relationship and environment where I want my clients to feels calm and safe. The worry, confusion, and frustration will dissipate as clients express themselves. They will be free of these emotions and transition to a relaxed, positive, and energized state of being.
Feel:
This first stage of the coaching process is focused on exploration. It is during this time that the client’s only focus is on freely expressing their emotions and concerns. This allows the client release through expression and allows the coach the opportunity to observe certain words, phrases, and other indicators that can help move the client to the next stage.
Realize:
This second stage in the process represents the perspective shift for the client. It is at this point that the growth occurs. Through asking powerful questions, the coach helps the client reach a new level of understanding about their situation.
Empower:
Now that the client has reached a new level of understanding, they move into the realm of brainstorming possible solutions and actions items to work towards their goals. They are able to use this time to explore the different options available to them and to assess how each action will impact their situation.
Enact:
This is the stage in the process is where the client takes the decided upon action discussed during the empower stage.
The FREE coaching model is not linear. It is a circular experience that is continuous with the client starting back at stage one. Once they have taken actions towards their goals, they will come back for a new session to discuss their progress and will start the process over again by openly have the space to explore their feelings and so on.
