A Coaching Model Created by Khalid Nizami
(Value Addition Coach, SINGAPORE)
A) Mission / Purpose
Living with Purpose – Adding and creating value in the life’s of anyone who comes in contact with me.
B) Stages & Sessions
It’s a 6 Stage, 12 sessions (+ session 0) transformation plan. While the content at individual stage will be flexible and in response to client and session need, broad framework / approach will be as follows.
The model – COACH to CREATE A New You, defines the key responsibilities of the COACH in terms of the COACH being responsible for creating a safe environment for the CLIENT in a way that the CLIENT can – Confide in the coach and the Coach has the Confidence in the Client in making the shift.
The Coach is
Observant in a way that he will observe the clients behavior and thinking patterns, requirements, areas where the client is not comfortable and is comfortable in order to help with the process of transforming.
The Coach is
Aware of the Clients needs and requirements and also becomes aware of the areas where the client may not be comfortable and will probe / question into such areas with the gained awareness and with the permission of the client.
The Coach is
Curious in a way that he will raise thought provoking discussions and questions in order for the client to be able to reflect and evolve.
The Coach will
Hold the client accountable on the Actions steps, field work, reflections, evolution and transformation in a way that the Client is able to make a sustained shift. And the coach will work in alignment with the ICF requirements.
Session 0 – Knowing and understanding, creating a safe space for the engagement: Understand and unburden the client. Establish safe space and comfort, clarity, trust, relationship. Ensure that the client understands what is coaching, and what coaching is not, has clarity about the roles of the coach and client, is committed to making the shift, takes ownership and has clear understanding of the coaching model and process. (Tool: Client Agreement and Client Information sheet, The biwid (best in what I do) questionnaire, Broad sessions plan, other logistics and commercials). Take away: Role clarity, need for shift, Model and process clarity.
Stage 1 – Commit
Agree on coaching needs, deliverables – what and how to measure. Who/ how/ and frequency of reporting and confidentiality. Stock taking through internal feedback, Ensure what does the client want to change, where is the shift and transformation required and the level of commitment from the client, note areas of surprise, help sifting through inputs & reach reconciliation. Check feelings. Assess need for any external (beyond coaching scope) help. Take away: Client commitment.
