How are the Thrive Coaching sessions structured?
Each session is different however there is a basic structure to each coaching session that we will follow.
- If this is our first session together then we will spend time discussing your target goals. Most of our subsequent sessions will begin by reviewing what has happened since we last spoke, discuss any actions you took since the last session, and celebrate achievements.
- We will then decide on a focus for the session and an intended outcome.
- Then we will examine this focus in more depth and see what insights, opportunities and obstacles arise. From the point of view of leveraging your strengths we will work together to consider different ideas and perspectives, leading you to build your self-awareness or take on specific actions.
- Towards the end of the session I will ask you what you have learned and how you might further apply that learning to your personal and/or professional growth. How will you use what you have learned or what you are committing to do to thrive?
What are our roles in the Thrive Coaching model?
Your role as the client is to be focused on the process during the coaching session; to try to be as open to new possibilities, to be honest with yourself, to stick to the commitments you make and to take ownership of the process.
My role as your coach is to be completely present in the coaching session, to listen attentively to what you say, to give you a chance to think and reflect, to ask you open, probing questions that help to understand your thought process, to mirror your words back to you, to highlight themes from our discussions, to hold you accountable to your commitments, to encourage and support you to find the solutions yourself and to respect your confidentiality at all times.
I hope this has provided some useful insights into the Thrive Coaching model and how you might benefit from this process. We can’t all be like Maya Angelou – after all she was a “one of a kind” – however, like her, we should aim to live our lives to our fullest potential, lead courageously and authentically, know and leverage our natural strengths to ensure we too will thrive. Like so many successful leaders having support along the journey is key to promoting growth and achieving success.
