Elizabeth would often bring up the issue of her messy house, her incomplete assignment for her credit course at the university, her insecurity… the coach would listen carefully to every intonation, every underlying belief.
And then one day Elizabeth spoke about the guy she was interested in… there was the bend in the river.
The coach listened with all her senses and then posed the question to Elizabeth, “What do you want from this relationship?”
“Where do you want it to go from here?” And later in the session “How do you see yourself in the near future?”
A lot of coaching happens after a session, between sessions, sometimes even after many sessions. . .
Sometimes even as soon as one expresses ones thoughts out loud, there is no set formula but it does happen.
A coach supports clients of every type:
Including those who like a mighty river noisily thunder through a canyon and those who silently flow through a field.
A coach always watches each ripple or torrent as it moves along. Always moving forward, rarely looking backwards.
The coach is the observer, the eagle above the mighty river, the snail on the bank, the fish inside the churning waters.
The coach brings in different perspectives
The coach brings in reflection by paraphrasing what the client has said and through that a clearer understanding of what lies beneath the words.
The coach will try to help clients reach within themselves to seek their total potential.
The coach assists clients to achieve total potential:
We are all born with a “lock and key”…
The coach merely helps the client find the key and willingly use it.
For within each of us lies deep understanding, utter peace and total tranquility but with the first cry of birth we get distracted with the chaotic noise of the world around us.
The coach helps us silence all but that which is within each of us. Gently but surely helping us find our own soul, which is our very own bliss.
