Give light and people will find the way – Ella Baker
Having a coach is a little like having someone hold a torch for you in a dark cave. Quite useful, so long as they shine the light in the direction in which you wish to travel! If they shine it where you have come from or in a direction you do not wish to follow, you may trip on your next step forward in the dark…
My LIGHT coaching model enables me to support and encourage you in the direction of your choice. I hold the light, and you choose the way.
1. LEARN
Before we embark, it is important to have a clear idea on your destination, and to choose your direction with a full understanding of your departure point…
A true understanding about you and what is important in your life is a good starting point and one which the majority of clients find entirely beneficial.
Who are you (free from your job title or family role)?
How satisfied are you with the different areas in your life?
What would you do if you truly had no constraints?
What do you want?
On the surface, these types of questions seem quite simple, however the answers may not come so easily. For some, it can be confronting or even challenging, but this process can also be empowering and provide the motivation to begin moving in the direction of your dreams (and that’s where we want to go!). No matter how long it takes, I’ll be there to support you and light the way.
2. IDENTIFY
Equipped with the knowledge of what is important to you (your values) and where you seek greater satisfaction in your life, it’s time to set some goals.
Although identifying where to focus your efforts sounds easy enough, your life journey is a little like managing a business – that is, you may have competing wants or needs. Choosing where to concentrate your focus can take some time and personal effort.
Through the use of questions and activities, I’ll shine the light to enable you to select the direction of the dreams you wish to follow first.
3. GAME PLAN
Your destinations are set, so it’s time to channel your personal GPS and set the route!
At this point, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, however together we can identify the logical steps and the required resources. It’s also important to identify what kind of challenges you may face, hit them with a spotlight and consider how to deal with them.
Then, your steps can be decided and we are ready to…
4. HUSTLE
Easier than it may first appear – just take the first step.
And then take the second. And then the third…
Momentum will build, and although road blocks are entirely likely, you have a plan to back you up.
I’ll point the light and be here to support you as you need. We might need to explore what you have learnt, or re-route your plan along the way, but that’s ok.
5. TRIUMPH
The day will come when you have made it to the summit of your goal. It might even be a slightly different place than you set out for or thought you’d end up! But there you are – wiser for the journey and grateful for the experience!
The most important thing to do now? Bring out the bright lights and celebrate!!!
But don’t let the light fade. Life is all about experience. Where do you want to shine the LIGHT next?
When you are ready, we can revisit what have you have learnt and the goals you identified, and take off on a new adventure!
