A Coaching Model Created by José Luis Albrecht
(Life Coach, BRAZIL)
The PRO-SUCCESS is a practical guide to assist the client to define, organize, plan and execute the necessary steps to the accomplishment of any goal.
I create this program inspired by existing systems to guide people in solving problems, in achieving goals, in personal development and in maximize their potential.
The main systems that took into account are: SMART GOALS, GROW MODEL and SWOT. The PRO-SUCCESS is the result of study and analysis of the systems mentioned together with ideas and experiences throughout my work with personal development and coaching.
The program was formatted reflecting the logical order of steps to be followed to organize and structure the ideas and actions necessary to achieve a certain goal.

Goal Setting
To get somewhere is important to know where is this place, otherwise you’ll be walking endlessly and not get anywhere. Therefore, the definition of the objective to be achieved is the first step to be taken to accomplish what you want.
Topics to be considered in setting a goal are:
a) The goal must be specific
It is important to specify clearly and exactly what the goal to be achieved. This specification usually indicates an outcome to be reached. This result may well be something you want to HAVE as can be something you want to BE or DO.
If the specified objective to be achieved is very large or complex, you can define partial and successive goals to better specify each part of the objective to be attained.
b) The objective should have the following characteristics
c) The goal should contain evaluation criteria
Any objective or goal you want to achieve must have some sort of criteria that can be checked if the desired result is obtained or is being obtained.
The advantages of the evaluation criteria are: check the progress of the work; stay focused on the goal; follow the plan developed with attention to established deadlines; and promote motivation for monitoring the progress achieved in the process.
The evaluation criteria are ways to measure progress and demonstrate that particular result was reached. Therefore, these criteria should be clear, concrete and measurable, allowing the clear perception that the desired result was achieved.

Explain The Reasons
Any goal requires efforts to be achieved. It is a normal effort in order to achieve the goal.
However, this normal effort can be lighter or heavier exactly in proportion as you have awareness of your own reasons for seeking such a goal.
Topics to be considered to explain the reasons of an objective are the following:
a) Meaning
It is important to realize that decisions and choices have roots inside, that is, they are derived from what you really want for your own life ..
For this, you will reflect on the meaning, purpose and value that performing certain goal will bring to your life and the lives of those you love.
b) Motivation
Upon reflection, if you decide you really want the desired goal, the listed reasons will play a key role in the whole process, they represent a real source of inspiration for you to take action and overcome any obstacles in the way.
In addition, being fully aware of the reasons why you are seeking accomplish a goal enables you feel satisfaction and pleasure in the journey toward this same goal.
c) Consistency
It is interesting to verify if the specified objective is aligned with your own idea of success, happiness and balance, and if that same goal is in line with the ethical principles and values that you set as the basis for building your life.
-
Assess The Reality
So that the specified objective is in line with reality at some point in life, look for that goal the following requirements:
- a) The goal should be POSSIBLE. It must have a real chance of being achieved with your effort and determination, and not a mere daydream.
- b) The goal must be APPROPRIATE. It must be suitable for you and must be what you need to be able to achieve the success you want.
- c) The goal must be CURRENT. It must be in tune with the present moment of your existence, allowing equilibrium to be achieved in a sustainable way.
- d) The goal should be COMPATIBLE. It must be in line with other activities necessary for life itself.
Strengths and Weakness points
In this step, you will look at yourself and make a self-assessment, noting its strengths and its weaknesses compared to what you want to achieve, identifying what needs to improve or acquire to achieve the success you desire.
Opportunities and Obstacles
You also need to look at what is happening in the world around you, starting with your family, going through your desktop to an analysis of the economic and social environment in which he lives. Then, you will identify opportunities or obstacles to the goal you want to achieve.
Opportunities are favorable factors and should be leveraged to boost its growth. The obstacles are difficulties that must be removed or treated so that you can proceed to the conquest of what you want.
-
Assume Commitment
This is a crucial step of the PRO-SUCCESS. At this point, having been clearly specified goal, known reasons, being aware of their strengths and difficulties to achieve the desired goal, conscious of the opportunities and obstacles, you have ample condition and decide to assume any commitment to conquer what you want.
After deciding it is time to formally make a commitment to yourself. This formal commitment should have some form of registration, which may be a written page, a recording of an audio or video. This record is a way through which you can see and review your commitment later, in the coming days, months or years, in which you will be working to achieve what you want.
In this formal commitment, it is interesting to note briefly the following: the specified purpose; the main reasons for achieving this goal; their strengths, advantages and personal current opportunity to achieve the target set; noting, too, that you are aware of the existence of obstacles and difficulties, but who is willing to face whatever is necessary to get what they want.
-
Developing An Action Plan
Now is the time to define how you will act to accomplish your goal. At this point, which should be defined is the necessary steps that need to be done to get what you want.
Topics to be considered in the preparation of the action plan are:
a) Definition of the stages
The steps to a determined plan of action, obviously, depend on the objective to be achieved. We believe that you have enough capacity to prepare your plan of action for the goals you want to achieve.
Do not worry about creating a perfect plan, but in creating an action plan and start acting. Then, during the execution of the plan, if something is not going exactly as you would like, you can make adjustments if it is necessary. Evaluation and reevaluation of a plan of action, even at runtime, is a component of the plan itself.
b) Control points
As said, the action plan should contain control points so you can check the progress of the plan itself and if the steps toward the achievement of the goal are having the desired effect.
Control points are also important for the correction of any aspect that is not going as scheduled or is not producing the expected results, allowing you to evaluate and reevaluate the plan and make the necessary adjustments.
c) Lead time
Another important aspect in the preparation of the action plan is setting deadlines for implementing the steps. Deadlines help stay focused and promote some pressure for you to perform the necessary tasks.
Additionally, interim deadlines are also moments of evaluation or control the progress of the whole process. Still, setting deadlines helps prevent against overlapping priorities, that is, if you have a deadline to reach a certain goal, you will not let another activity overlaps and delays or prevents the fulfillment of what you want.
Remember that deadlines are measured in days, weeks, months, years, and you should set a date, a time when we want to see accomplished the desired goal.
-
Execute The Action Plan
The implementation of the action plan is the moment you will be acting to really conquer what you want. Therefore, at this time, it is need total concentration to stay focused and accomplish what you even determined.
Topics to be considered in implementing the action plan are:
a) Determination
At first, it may seem a bit redundant the need for a step called Execute the Action Plan, as the step before it was Developing the Action Plan.
You could argue: if someone devises a plan that is sure to execute that plan! It is true, entirely agree with that, the right thing to do would run the same elaborate plan.
However, it is surprising how many people (and even companies) that produce specific and colorful and detailed and wonderful plans, but simply do not execute these plans.
The determination to implement the plan of action is a key to that success is achieved. So, focus on what you have planned and run the plan developed.
-
Evaluate The Results
The evaluation of the results obtained throughout the program is a very important step, in that it is results that demonstrate the effectiveness of the process itself, as well as offer the opportunity to modify some actions or procedures that did not promote the desired results.
Topics to be considered in the evaluation of the results are as follows:
a) Self-assessment
The most interested in getting achieve certain goal is yourself. So, you have to develop a fair, honest and positive critical sense to evaluate the reality and realize the evolution in your program.
The evaluation also occurs during other stages of the PRO-SUCCESS, but at this point, what matters is to check to what extent the result is in line with what was predicted at the beginning of the process. If the result reached the desired level, it is great. Otherwise, check what failed, correct the script, restart the process and insist until the final victory.
b) Feedback
Besides the self-assessment, you can get or ask for feedback from other people about the changes that have been implemented.
The feedback is a great way to evaluate the results, because other people tend to be more objective and realistic on assessment of the changes in our attitudes and way of being and acting.
c) Continuing
If the specified goal was achieved: CONGRATULATIONS. Go ahead, choose the next goal and walk firmly on attaining a balanced life, full of meaning and accomplishment.
If not achieved in whole or in part, you must redo the plans and restart the process, taking care not to repeat any faults committed.
It is interesting to note that one possible definition of “insanity” is always desired a different result doing the same thing.
It is essential assess and reassess, correcting what went wrong and reinforcing what went right during the process.
Final Words
Completed the presentation of PRO-SUCCESS. I hope that this model could be useful in your life. I can’t say it is easy and quick to apply this program in practice. In fact, you must have will power, discipline and organization.
However, I can say that it is easier and faster to achieve some goal when that goal is pursued with the support of a structured method for this purpose.
Concluding, I think it is worth invest in yourself and take the time to plan and execute everything you need to do to achieve success and happiness in your life.
