A Coaching Model Created by Jessica Bauschke

What is a Coaching Model?
A Coaching Model is a framework to support the coaching interaction between the coach and the client. It helps visualising the coaching journey, and it gives some indication of the coach’s overall approach to coaching.
However, it is not a strict manual for the coaching session as the coaching conversation is about and led by the client, not the coach.
What are the benefits of having a Coaching Model?
Developing a coaching model, enhances the coach’s clarity about what is important for him/her in coaching. This increases the coach’s confidence level and makes him/her feel more at ease.
The coach can now simply be a better coach for the client.
The coaching model also helps the client understand what the coaching interaction will be like with the coach, and learn about the coach’s values, and/or the overall process in the coaching journey.
The client can see upfront whether a model resonates with him/her. He/She benefits from a great coach who is confident and at ease because of the supporting coaching model.
Coaching Model: My TRUE NORTH
True North – What does it mean?
True North points to the northern pole of the earth at right angles to the equator. The direction is fixed and does not change.
Magnetic North, by contrast, is the north that is shown on a compass. The north shown on a compass is influenced by magnetic variation so that it changes in different places and times and usually does not match the true north.
Identifying True North is indispensable to navigate precisely.
On our personal journey through life, we are sometimes not clear about where we stand and what would be the right way for us to go. Finding our True North and being in harmony with it, makes it possible for us to know the “real me” in us, and to know our direction to pursue.
Once we know our True North, wherever we are and whatever the circumstances, we do not orient us anymore on the Magnetic North that shows a visible, yet distorted North to the society around us at this place and time, and that is changing due to external forces pushing or pulling it into different directions.
Instead, we can now follow our own unique path and are in line with our beliefs, values, and with who we really are.
True North Acronym – Values & Process
There are four important values, not only valid in coaching, but also in general in our everyday lives:
On the above-mentioned values builds the overall process of my coaching approach:
