A Coaching Model Created by Jeannie Kermeen

Helping You Recognize and Utilize Your Strengths to Achieve Your Goals
Frequently we assume it’s our weaknesses that prevent us from achieving our goals. Consequently, we focus most of our attention on improving those weaknesses. However, if what we focus on expands, shouldn’t we focus our attention on what we do well so that we can become even stronger? I am not suggesting you completely ignore your weaknesses—awareness around them is important, but rather than focusing so much attention on your weaknesses, as your coach I will help you focus on finding ways to overcome them by utilizing your strengths.
The STRENGTH Based Coaching model (below) provides you, the client, with an overview of the process used during our coaching sessions. As your coach, my goal is to support you in achieving your goals by helping you to recognize and utilize the Strengths you already possess. Strengths are different from knowledge and skills as both knowledge and skills can be acquired, but Strengths are innate. They are the things you naturally do well. One of the best ways to identify your Strengths is by taking the Strengths Finder 2.0 online assessment—and the cost of the assessment is included in each coaching package.
The coaching will consist of either one-hour or half-hour sessions which take place over the phone (the length and frequency of the calls, and the number of sessions is determined by your needs and the coaching package you select). We begin with a 30 minute introductory session to determine if we are a good “fit” and whether or not you would like to work together in coaching relationship. It is also important that you know everything you share in a coaching session is confidential.
Prior to the introductory session, I encourage you to think about the following questions:
Strengths Based Coaching is a process that can assist you throughout the various stages of your career — as well as through life’s other transitions. So, if you have short or long-term goals you would like to achieve or transitions you are making in your life, and you would like an objective person to help you identify obstacles and work with you to design an action plan for moving forward — I welcome the opportunity to support you as your personal coach.
I hope to hear from you soon!
Warmly,
Jeannie Kermee
The Details of the STRENGTH Coaching Process:
Sharing the Situation
At the beginning of our session you share what values are important to you and what goals you want to accomplish. I will ask questions and listen closely for what you say—as well as what you don’t say—to help you identify obstacles that may be preventing you from reaching your goal.
Transforming Perspective
Once obstacles have been identified, I will utilize a variety of questions and/or tools to help you shift your perspective to see a way to move beyond the obstacles. Once your perspective has been shifted it is easier to consider ways to move forward.
Recognizing Strengths
When considering ways to move forward, we will discuss the Strengths you have and different ways you can utilize those Strengths to overcome the obstacles holding you back.
Establishing Opportunities
Once you recognize the Strengths you can utilize to overcome the obstacles, you will be able to see the many opportunities available to you. I will encourage you to determine different approaches you might want to take. If you get stuck, we can brainstorm ideas.
Naming Approach
Now that you have identified opportunities, I will encourage you to name the approach that will work best for you to overcome the obstacles and move closer to success.
Goal Setting
Working together, you will determine the details of your goal and break it down into manageable steps (the what, how, and by when) to create an action plan. I will challenge you to take at least one step of your choosing to work toward accomplishing your goal.
Taking Action
Now that you have accepted the challenge and know what step (or steps) you want to take, you will start actively moving towards reaching your goal. I am confident you have the Strengths and ability needed to take action, and I am “in your corner” to support and encourage you on your journey.
Honoring Accomplishments
In every session I will verbally acknowledge and honor the accomplishments you have made toward realizing your goal. Celebrating is extremely important, and I look forward to congratulating you on every success!
