Introduction
The WISE MIND draws upon aspects of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Although these are both therapeutic approaches, they are designed to help individuals become more effective in the manner in which they solve problems. The WISE MIND Model adapts some of these aspects to create an a model for more effective decision making. The WISE MIND Model, could help coaches pave an effective path to their Client’s success, by assisting them to strengthen attention, focus and motivation. It may help Clients overcome obstacles to their goals and achievements.
The WISE MIND model is fashioned upon three important principles:
Commitment – A willingness to undertake a journey that will be difficult. This is a higher-order and more essential ingredient to goal attainment. It fuels motivation, problem solving, interpersonal success and personal satisfaction.
Growth – Is guided by values and commitment. When growth occurs, it is reflected in goal setting and actions that become a representation of individual’s values and self image.
Success – Occurs when goals are in the service others as well as the individual. Skillful goals are a representation of personal values and what makes the individual feel “worthy” and worthwhile. Achieving value-driven goals can result in personal satisfaction, but may also increase commitment and generate possibilities for living life to its fullest.
