A Coaching Model Created by Divya Munjal
(Spiritual Coach, INDIA)
Coaching is a cycle. When one goal or challenge is reached/taken care of another one is ready. It is a constant cycle of recourse and rebirth.
Coaching, just like life, is a journey. This coaching model takes in the analogy of life and equates coaching to having a life of its own which moves in cycles. Life is like a flowing river. A river may need to change course in order to continue to flow. This river, which is their life, flows to encounter varied places — plains, mountains, wetlands, oceans. An individual may be in a meadow walking comfortably when they might notice a challenging mountain ahead or they might encounter a sparkling beach waiting for them to relax, they might notice the varied emotions within them like how a river has varied creatures residing in its waters. This person is moving through life navigating the successes, losses, visions, obstacles and challenges. They are looking for a change in direction due to various encounters, just like the river recourses when encountering other natural elements. This coaching model is for individuals who are looking to enhance their course of life, to make needed changes and/or to know why they took a certain course in life. Coaching has a life of its own. Just like life moving in a cycle, an individual who has taken up coaching moves from one stage to another in cycles.
This coaching model is divided into phases which may or may not always follow a liner fashion. An individual can go back and forth through any of these stages.
The light bulb turns on: The recourse begins
This is the single most important phase in a client’s coaching journey. This is when the client makes a resolve to do something that is important to them and/or looks to find a new approach to their being. Half the battle is won because if this stage does not exist, none of the following ones would.
The submerged reemerging:
This element of the coaching model can be compared to an iceberg. Just like an iceberg has a part of its body below the water, the client is encouraged to search through the part which is not conspicuous. The client might discover hidden talents, inner strength, suppressed emotions, personality traits and the list goes on. The client also gets an opportunity to discover their unconscious thoughts which influence their conscious thoughts, actions, emotions and behaviour. This discovery is generally of both positive and negative nature. This enables the client to have a better understanding of who they are as a person as well as get a better understanding of the situations that brought them to the coaching in the first place. This new understanding can produce miraculous results.
Integration:
This stage invites clients to accept what has been discovered in the previous phase and take action around it. They are also given space to accept the discovery. Acceptance is powerful. Denial is not. All of what is found is integrated into the now, allowing the desired personality to emerge. The discovered talents can be utilised. The weaknesses and undesirable characteristics are dealt with. A lot can happen here.
Soaring High: Rebirth accomplished
The client succeeds and evolves. They accomplish what is meaningful to them. It is a new day, as fresh as morning dew. A new chapter of life is awaiting! A rebirth has taken place. This is when the client is in a space of fulfilment and promise. This is a phase of rebirth.
