A Coaching Model Created by Deborah Campbell

What oxygen is to the lungs, such is hope to the meaning of life. ~ Emil Brunner ~
Hope:
A feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen.
The HOPE-FULL Coaching Model is designed to facilitate transformation in an individual’s personal and professional life to become and live the life they dream and desire. This model is based on the belief people are unique, independent, responsible individuals with desires, dreams, purpose and potential to achieve great things. Using the Holistic Coaching approach, the transformation process is implemented and sustained through focusing and building on the positive aspects. Holistic is defined as
relating to or concerned with wholes or with complete systems rather than with the analysis of, treatment of, or dissection into parts. (All definitions are from Oxford Dictionary)
Prior to beginning Phase 1:
The Coach and client have a preliminary meeting. The Coach establishes a safe, confidential environment and explains the Coaching process. It is imperative the client feels relaxed, trusting, and open by understanding the Coaching sessions are all about him/her, without judgment. The Coaching Agreement is established.
Throughout all phases of Hope-Full Coaching, the Coach acknowledges and validates the client’s uniqueness and celebrates successes.
Phase 1 is discovering and learning what is in the Heart.
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. ~Proverbs 4:23 NIV~
The idiom – the heart of the matter – refers to the core of the problem or main issue. Just as the physical heart is central to keeping the body alive, so the inner heart is central to revealing who they are, where they are and where they would like to go in life.
The first step is to identify where the client is now and where he/she wants to go. The Coach and client explore heart issues: core values, beliefs, desires, dreams, life purposes and key strengths. The empathetic Coach listens intuitively and asks powerful open-ended questions which create awareness and mindfulness. The heart is intrinsically connected to the other stages and paramount in the decision making process.
Phase 2 is examining possibilities and exploring Opportunities.
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. ~ Albert Einstein ~
During this stage, the client will identify and clarify what is desired most. There is a strong focus on transferring past successes to the future, validating positive aspects of client’s lifestyle, and affirming what works or is empowering in the client’s current situations. The Coach continues to expand awareness of client’s thoughts, feelings and beliefs through positive questioning, reframing perspective and visualizing ensuring alignment with the client’s values, desires and beliefs. Priorities are identified and goals established.
Phase 3 is creating and implementing the Action Plan
Never let go of hope – dream, take action, and get that transfer to live the life you wish.~Catherine Pulsifer~
The third step is creating and implementing the action plan. The action plan includes strategies, structures and self-development plan that support the client’s value and belief system. Possible obstacles are addressed. The Coach is affirming and encouraging to the client for the decisions made. A schedule is set-up for accountability and to measure progress.
Phase 4 is maintaining progress, continued growth and change resulting in Empowerment
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. ~Proverbs 13:12 NKJV~
The arrows continue the Coaching Cycle of re-evaluating, learning, growing and changing to maintain, sustain and move the client forward to reach new dreams.
Phase 5 is living FULL of HOPE
The very least you can do in your life is to figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance, but live in it, under its roof. ~ Catherine Pulsifer ~
FULL is defined as
not lacking or omitting anything; complete.
Every individual has a personal definition for the meaning of complete or being “whole.” The client may feel complete by achieving what they hoped for, seeing desires manifested and/or living the dream. It’s not a destiny, but a journey for life.
My definition of FULL is
Freedom with Unlimited possibilities to Live Life to the fullest.
