Introduction
Time can be an elusive concept. We talk about time in relationship to the past, present and future. We plan our lives around it; whether it be work or play, appointments or assignments, hobbies or dreams. We can describe time as going fast or slow or even standing still. When things are going well for us, we feel as though time flies by. When we are in a crisis or things aren’t going well, we feel like everything is in slow motion and time will never end. We think that we can save time by multitasking or rearranging our schedule. As much as we would like to, time is not something we can catch or save. We cannot keep it and we cannot give it away.
There’s an opportune time to do things and a right time for everything on earth. Ecclesiasts 3:1 (MSG)
The ancient Greeks used the terms chronos and kairos to refer to time. The root of the word chronological is chronos. Chronos time is both linear and cyclical, as well as quantitative. It is given equally to all in the form of 24-hours days, and the related increments. Kairos time is defined as: the right or opportune time; the appointed time of God’s favor; a passing instant when an opening appears; a pivotal moment in time.
The mission of Kairos Possibilities is to engage you in this concept of kairos time and kairos moments. Unlike chronos time, kairos time cannot be pinned down on a linear scale and is not equally experienced by all people. Kairos time includes emotions and actions, beliefs and values. It incorporates your past, present, and future, and illuminates your purpose. It can be an instance or a season. In a kairos moment your priorities and passions are integrated with your values and strengths, and you are empowered to act on your dreams and visions.
At Kairos Possibilities, coaching is a creative collaborative process. Through coaching you will enter into a confidential space created just for you. You will be treated as a whole and complete individual with the resources you need to understand life, experience your present moments, create your future, and impact the world.
The transformation process begins with akairos moment where you recognize your possibilities and choose to enter into the process. Coaching helps you to integrate your whole being into the process, sustain your momentum, celebrate your experiences and evaluate new challenges and opportunities.
The Coaching Process
Just as no two clients are identical, there is not a rigid coaching structure that is used with all clients. Coaching is a process that is organic and client directed. Your values and strengths, passions, and priorities are a distinct reflection of your unique inner being and the tools that you will use to experience the process of transformation in your life.
The coaching framework used at Kairos Possibilities focuses on the holistic integration of your Being, Relating, and Doing.
Simply knowing the answer to these questions is not enough to bring about a sustainable change in person. By integrating your Being—Relating—Doing, you will engage in a transformational experience that empowers, equips and sustains you to experience spiritual growth, lead from your strengths and live a life of purpose.
The coaching process atKairos Possibilitiesis guided by the highest standards in the coaching community as set forth by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). The ICF competencies are expressed throughout the coaching relationship.
The client can expect the following from the coach:
The Kairos Coaching Model
Within your Being, Relating, and Doing are aspects of your Spiritual Formation, Leadership Development and Life Purpose. It is not possible to separate yourself into three different beings. At any given moment you are whole, an integration of your passions, priorities, values and strengths. You hold your past, your present, and your future. By integrating together these aspects of your life you create synergy and tap into a powerful source of energy and potential.
The triquetra is also known as a Trinity Knot or a Celtic Triangle.
Kairos Possibilities uses the triquetra symbol to represent the integration of the Being—through Spiritual Formation, Relating—through Leadership Development, and Doing—through Life Purpose. Just as a three legged stool provides more support and stability than a stool with only one or two legs, the integration of these three areas of your life creates an individual who is empowered with potential and sustained by harmony and strength.
