Raise the BAR (Beliefs-Actions-Results) model is a coaching framework to propel client’s careers, vocations, businesses, relationships, handling transitions and lives to new heights.
Raise the BAR model is a cohesive and not necessarily sequential approach to exploring the 3 key elements in the client’s life – Beliefs, Actions and Results. Each element affects other elements, which inherently are to be taken as an integrated unit. This model is aimed at guiding the coaching engagement in a thought-provoking and creative process to inspire clients to maximize their potential.
This model has three primary coaching objectives:
- Raise the quality of awareness of BELEIFS that fuels forward movement.
- Raise the degree of accountability for ACTIONS as a strategy to achieve goals and aspirations.
- Raise the level of understanding of RESULTS to evolve values and inform decisions.

Coaching Objective # 1:
Raise the quality of awareness of BELEIFS that fuels forward movement.
BELIEFS are either conscious or unconscious. True beliefs are imbedded in what we do and not just what we profess. Some we can clearly articulate while others are not too obvious unless examined deliberately or surfaced during challenging situations. Our decisions and actions are anchored on our true beliefs. So to “raise the bar” of the client, coaching should help facilitate closer inspection of these beliefs however and whenever they show up. Beliefs affect every aspect of the client’s life whether in a positive or negative way. The Raise the BAR model focuses on exploring client’s beliefs that fuels forward movement.
Coaching Objective # 2:
Raise the degree of accountability for ACTIONS as a strategy to achieve goals and aspirations.
ACTIONSrequire exerting energy. Energy is limited and spending them wisely is paramount to a productive life. The thing is, there are actions that generate energy, and thereby taking account of such actions is important as it has replenishing effect. Actions are the result of decisions we make each moment and our decisions to behave a certain way ranges from being taken almost instantly (automatic underlying commitments [UACs]) to a very deliberate process. It is therefore imperative that we have an effective approach to working with our energy and actions to achieve our desired results. The Raise the BAR model looks at accountability as a strategy to realize client’s goals and aspirations.
Coaching Objective # 3:
Raise the level of understanding of RESULTS to evolve values and inform decisions.
RESULTS are the by-products of what we do that are rooted in our belief system. To reach our goal, we may attempt to do different things. It does not a guarantee that a particular approach will lead to meeting our goal. So getting to our desired outcome, we may set up a number key performance indicators (KPIs) that we monitor and track that enables us to re-examine what works and doesn’t. Therefore, how we view our outcome is important as it represent perspectives that we can use to calibrate what we value and directly affect what we decide to do next. The Raise the BAR model aims to increase the client’s level of understanding of results to evolve values and inform decisions.
