The Metro Model views the steps of life coaching as being similar to those needed while navigating the metro system in a new city. Whether you are on the London Underground, The Paris Metro, The Chicago El or the New York City Subway, you must discover where you destination is located and learn how to get there. Additionally, you will recognize that there are important stops, known as milestones, that will allow you for opportunities get off, change directions or carry on through.
The first step of The Metro Model is to truly understand where you want to go. This exploratory phrase will involve deep questions about your goals, values and priorities. After riding this line, you will be able to clearly articulate your ideal destination.
After you know exactly where you want to end up, you will start exploring all of the different tracks to you can take to get there. Similar to looking at the routes of a map, you will be able to see the direction you will need to follow as well as the steps involved in getting you there.
With the help of your coach, you will choose the most strategic and effective route to move you towards your goals.
You and your coach will develop and implement an action plan based on your priorities, time commitments and special requirements.
(and reroute if necessary)
While charting your progress, you will celebrate your milestones, recognize your barriers and overcome your obstacles. You will also have the option to change routes or even alter your final destination as new opportunities emerge.
One of the most important aspects of coaching is seeing results. When you accomplish your predetermined goals, you are open to take on new challenges and continue your travels.
