A Coaching Model Created by Amy Scott
(Life Coach, UNITED STATES)
This model was developed with my Nomadtopia coaching clients in mind. We work together to help them create, and thrive in, the ideal lifestyle for them (aka Nomadtopia), whether that’s traveling indefinitely or moving abroad or taking road trips every summer.
Typically, we start at the beginning, with the Nuts and Bolts, and follow the main path through the remaining stops on the map. But just like going on a hike, the client is in control, and can choose an alternate route: take a different path at any point along the way, create a loop, go up and back the same way, or circle back to favorite spots.
Nuts and Bolts: I call this the “nuts and bolts” because this is what holds everything together. At this point we’ll explore what you want out of life, your values and priorities, and anything else that impacts the rest of your journey.
Orientation: Once the Nuts and Bolts are established, we’ll take a look at where you are, and where you want to be (both literally and figuratively). What does your ideal lifestyle look like? What needs to change to get where you want to go?
Movement: Next, it’s time to get into action. This will get you closer to your destination and give you even more clarity about what you want (and don’t want) and how to get it.
Adjustments: Now that you’ve spent some time moving forward, this is an opportunity to look at what’s not working, and what you want to change. Make adjustments and continue on.
Destination: You’ve arrived where you set out to go!
But the journey never ends… What’s next? You might want to stay here for a while, create Movement toward the next destination, or perhaps circle back to make more Adjustments or revisit your Nuts and Bolts.
